Please join us on select Tuesdays for programs designed to inform, inspire, and connect our community and to help individuals navigate the territory of getting older, caregiving, serious illness & more.
Bonnie Evans is a geriatric nurse practitioner with experience in hospice and palliative care, an end-of-life doula, and grief counselor.
Join one, some or all sessions! All sessions will be available via Zoom except on 11/25 (see links below on the day of the event)
Schedule:
September 30 – The World of the Nursing Home
Bonnie will discuss what is meant by skilled vs long-term care beds, the basics of financing, what to think about when choosing a nursing home, NH culture, and the RI Alliance for Long Term Care Ombudsmen Program.
October 28–Brain Health As We Age
There are some normal changes that occur in the brain as we get older and we will discuss these changes and what can happen with certain medical conditions such as dementia. What are we learning about lifestyle changes and other factors that can promote brain health?
November 25 – Death Café
Discussing end of life & loss in a safe setting can help us to appreciate life and what truly matters. There will be light refreshments & time to continue the conversation following each program.

December 30– The Importance of Socialization on Wellness
As 2025 comes to a close, Bonnie will outline research emphasizing the role that socialization has on our overall wellness and ideas around how we can continue to connect in 2026. Sharing stories, listening, and being heard is one way to do this. Let’s discuss the idea of a Life Story Club and if we can adapt what they are doing in NYC to our town.
