Volunteering through Teen Advisory Board (For Middle and High Schoolers)
The best way to volunteer at the library and find out about new volunteer opportunities is by joining Teen Advisory Board.
Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is made up of middle and high school students who want to help shape their library and community! This is a student-led, librarian-supported board whose members meet for one hour twice a month in the Teen Space to discuss volunteer opportunities, event planning, and more (see below). Your input helps us create services and events that reflect what you and your peers actually want and need.
As a TAB member, you’ll:
- suggest, plan, and help run library programs
- create book displays in the Teen Space
- be the first to hear about new volunteer opportunities and regular volunteer hours
- select books for the library’s YA Book Boxes program
- suggest books and media for purchase
- and more!
In addition to volunteer hours through TAB, you can submit TAB meetings and library events you plan and attend through TAB for volunteer hours.

Volunteering outside Teen Advisory Board (For Middle and High Schoolers)
Can’t make TAB meetings, but still want to volunteer around the library? Please email Mr. Gus ([email protected]) for information about upcoming volunteer shifts, or to schedule a volunteer shift on your own time.
Volunteer tasks include:
- Clean-up projects: shelf reading, reorganization, relabeling, weeding unused materials, etc.
- Creating new signage and flyers for teen library services and programs
- Helping with library programs: setup, takedown, etc.
- and more!

Book Reviews for Volunteer Hours (For Middle and High Schoolers)
Need volunteer hours, but don’t have time to come into the library? Email Mr. Gus with your name and a book review, and you’ll get one hour of volunteer work for each review you send!

Reviews should be about one full page in 12-point font, double-spaced.
Open to ages 11-18 (grades 6-12).
