Board of Trustees

Roles and Responsibilities

Fulfilling the roles and responsibilities of a Trustee in a responsible manner is of the utmost importance.
In addition to attending Trustee meetings, the Trustees of this library agree to fulfill the following responsibilities:

  • Determine and adopt written policies to govern operations, programs, books and materials selection. *
  • Know programs and needs
  • Establish, support, and participate in public relations programs
  • Know state and local laws that pertain to libraries
  • Report regularly to governing officials and the public

* It is not the responsibility of the trustees to choose library programming, books, and materials. Our professional library staff designs and implements programs and selects books and materials.

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget
  • Work to secure adequate funding for the library
  • Employ competent directors and oversee the updating of job description
